  1. man, people must do their shopping bright and early when these sales start! i always go the first day, and so many things are already sold out! i can't go early b/c camden has to get to school, and ryan leaves for work really early. then aiden is ready for his nap right after that... so i can't make it until lunchtime. grrrr...

question for you... do you know when they WILL double coupons that say "do not double/triple"? how do we know which ones they will/will not?

also, i found out that HT will only credit you part of the coupon when doubling if the price of the item is reached before the doubling price...if that makes sense??? one of my coupons rung up for the dollar and then for .39. that's because at that point, the item was free - they won't credit you any more past that now. not a biggie - i'm happy it was free. but i know some places go on and double all the way, so i was just sharing what i learned.

i know i had another question...but... oh, just remembered! could you maybe do a post explaining how you have your coupon binder organized? i keep trying to figure out how to best divide the sections. not sure i have it how i really want it. if you have it figured out, i'm sure a bunch of us that are new at the game would appreciate it! ;)

now...to figure out when some of those items will be back on the shelves. i can't wait for the new HT to open just down the street. it's a pain to go all across town b/c it takes up the entire time between aiden's nap - and then i feel guilty b/c he didn't get much down/play time. and neither do i! maybe another month... ahhh...that will be nice. (i'm used to having one across the street from me! can you tell?)

thanks for sharing the info and the link to other freebies/cheap deals. helped me organize my coupons before i left today! :)

  2. Daisy,

I'll be doing a post soon (perhaps tomorrow, time permitting) on where I find my coupons and how I have them organized right now- it will be a good primer I hope!

You can tell if a coupon will double by checking the barcode on the back- if it starts with a 5, it will double automatically. If it starts with a 9, it will not (though if your code starts with a 9 and the q does not say "do not double/triple" on its face, you can usually argue the point with a cashier/manager and it get it overriden to double- this is what I did with Mayfield ice cream q's).

I have heard tales of woe on message boards where some stores/cashiers will manually override to prevent doubling/tripling for coupons that say do not double. This has not yet happened to me and if it did, I'd just have them take the item away, give me my coupon back and let that be the end of it.

You'll find that some stores will double even if doubling exceeds coupon value- HT is not one of these. They have a very savvy system and the computer will pick it up and adjust doubling value so you don't make any money on a transaction. Having said that, their system can also bite you if you're buying a Buy One Get One Free item- you won't be able to use a second coupon for the second item in many cases...so I'll just buy one of the B1G1 items and use 1 coupon to prevent a hassle. You'll get the item for half price anyway.

Hope that helps! I'll try to post my handy dandy q primer soon, I promise!
